The Sleep Cycle
Sleep is a cycle in which the brain is active and the body is asleep. There are many things going on during sleep. A cycle is where the body's electrical activity is different during one stage of sleep and different during another. This is the pattern that the brain is programmed to follow. We know that the pattern for sleep has a predictable pattern and we can see what's going on. If you are using any of the devices on this page, you will find that you can sleep better.
This cycle will usually be between 20:00 and 06:00. There is no specific time and the length is variable. If you're going to be away for a long period of time, you can switch to a different cycle to help with sleep. The sleep cycle can go on indefinitely if you don't change it. It is important to recognize the pattern for a 24-hour cycle in order to know what to do during it. The day will start as usual. You'll be on your computer or phone, which is where most people go when they want to sleep. But you'll not be getting any sleep.
